fuel fume alarm

Anyone with straight inboards, or IO's use a fuel alarm? I know how to use a blower etc... Do many people have these? I know someone that had one years ago, said it only went off twice, one time was a fuel leak, the other something else I can't remember, but he was glad he had it. (it was a much larger twin screw flybridge) if that matters.

Most of my boating in the last 20 years has been with outboards, or twin Diesels inboards, so this has never been a concern. If you guys think it's worth it, I'll get it.

I don't own an inboard, but whenever I get on someone's boat with a gas inboard engine...I think about fumes and spark. If you can afford i'd install it.

I know a lot of I/O guys without an alarm that just open the engine box for a few minutes prior to starting the engine. However, in the case of a straight IB under the console, this might not be as feasible, so installing the alarm would be a good idea.

It's a piece of safety equipment. We had one on a Trojen boat year's ago.

It give's a lot of peace of mind.

When I finish sealing in My fuel tank on My Outboard 20ftr I'll install the one I bought 2 years ago.I had a fuel leak on it & Didn't really notice it till out Yonder. Either way it'll be Safe to have.Early warning.Inboards without a doubt have it.Airing the engine compartment out before starting is great, its the fuel leak later.
