New to me sea craft and........search function??
I just purchased a 1971 20' cc, and i am now doing research on different restorations. I was wondering whether or not there is a way to do a search and come up with the topics only, and not everybodies responces. I'll post pics of the boat in a couple days with more info on it. Thanks

Re: New to me sea craft and........search function??
You can do a search for just topics but most of us (or at least me) don't necessarily have topics that scream what they are about, like "1971 20' redo" (inspite of a number of 1971's having been redone on here).
Just sit down when you have some time and start sifting through all the info that is here. There are very few topics relating to redoing these boats that have not already been covered....including where to get replacement SeaCraft decals |

Re: New to me sea craft and........search function??
finally got pictures cause i know this site can't function without them. I purchased the boat last saturday from a guy in mass for 1500$. The hull was already stripped because he was planning on redoing it himself, but he doesn't have the time because he is moving to florida, The trailer also came with the boat. The trailer came with new wheels, tires, hubs, and lights. Overall, i think i got a pretty good deal......i'm happy anyways. Can't wait till the spring so i could start doing the work on her. Untill then i'll have to start thinking of a name for her.
The stringers seem to be pretty solid. This is a whole in the transom that was for a live well or something....the wood looks decent, but i'm not sure. I'll probably redu the transom and raise it 5". As you can tell, there is a decent amount of damage to the gel coat around the fish boxes, and the hatches near the transom. |

Re: New to me sea craft and........search function
Andrew ...what a deal !!
That last picture looks like a spot on mine ... the gel coat seemed to have lifted away from an area of gel coat below it. Mine had no structure issues below it just cosmetic, similar to your picture. Cleaned out the loose stuff, ground it out a bit, filled and faired and it looks as good as new !! Best of luck with her !!! |

In a way i think they are more valuable when you buy them already stripped as it saves you lots of time and we all know time is money. Nice bat gotta love the lines of the 20sf.

Scott: glad to know that i'm not the only one with those ugly cracks in the gel coat. I'm thinkin about using a dremel, or some type of die grinder. What would you recomend?
strick: It is nice having it already stripped. It saves time, and it makes me buy all new parts instead of trying to save money and use some of the old stuff. |

I don't think there is a boat on this site that hasn't seen one or the other !! You will build up a garage full of tools with a project like this |

Re: New to me sea craft and........search function??
Andrew, I just joined this sight and bought my first Seacraft. I found a 1974 20SF in Central MA. I'm looking forward to polishing it up. Good luck with it.
