Default Any bird shooters here?

Rumor has it that Dick Cheney needs a new hunting partner if anyone here likes their odds in that position...

Ikan,You are aware of my political veiws,so it would be my luck that Ole Dick would take me deer hunting with a 30/30,not bird hunting with low brass 7 1/2's.

That's the first thing I told the wife: good thing they weren't deer hunting!

Even still, me thinks somebody needs to take a hunter safety course.

Tall grass, guy walks into a live area without announcing himself, unless there's much more to the story it seems clear that the shootee was at fault. Especially since it was private land and, I'm guessing, no hunter orange required or worn.

Unlike deer hunting tragedies where the person is "mistaken" for a deer, this seems to be a situation where the shootee was in the line of fire.

Did quite a bit of "Bird" Hunt'n back Home(On the Bayou). I'd say Its one of the Most dangeous, especially with a few guys or gals(They Shoot Too). A bird bust dem'Bushes Ya only have a few seconds to aim & fire. Thats after getting the Jivies down from the Flush(Quail,pheasent-mostly)No Dogs. After hunting with the same People You learn certain things to do.1 is Not Eveybody can shoot & They don't always hit what they Aim for ! Or Do They ?Fast moving-reaction sport. Orange is Not rec'ko'mended for Birds ! Otherwise You'd have to shoot at Yor' Buddies juz to have sump't to shoot at !!!

6. Know your safe zone-of-fire and stick to it. Your safe zone-of-fire is that area or direction in which you can safely fire a shot. It is "down range" at a shooting facility. In the field it is that mental image you draw in your mind with every step you take. Be sure you know where your companions are at all times. Never swing your gun or bow out of your safe zone-of-fire. Know the safe carries when there are persons to your sides, in front of, or behind you. If in doubt, never take a shot. When hunting, wear daylight fluorescent orange so you can be seen from a distance or in heavy cover.

7. Control your emotions when it comes to safety. If you lose control of your emotions you may do something carelessly. If you have just shot a target or animal you probably will be excited. At that moment you may turn with a loaded firearm back towards your friends or you might run with a loaded firearm towards a downed animal with the gun safety off. You or someone else may be in danger once you lose control of your emotions. Show discipline. Rehearse in your mind what the safe actions will be. Do not allow your daydreams to prelace good judment. Show restraint and pass up shots which have the slightest chance of being unsafe.

I believe the only other Vice President to shoot another person while in office was Arron Burr who shot Alexander Hamilton. I knew Cheney would one day find his proper place in history.
