James,

Hey, I recognize that boat. When you are done and that boat in the water you are going to be amazed.

I think that you know that I replaced that boat with another 23 (this one).

your boat is the ultimate beast. I used to take that boat in 4 to 7 foot seas and any newbie on the boat would be amazed by the ride. My new SeaCraft does not ride nearly as well (yet). I hope to fix that my getting the engines raised.

Best of luck.

Peter

Nice project,
looks like you have the motor covered. Fuel cell replacement or refurb is normal stuff. From the pics it looks like an above average boat that should provide you a good project with minimal stuff to do to it.
Congratulations!

James,

How much fuel was still in the tank? I am guessing close to 100 gallons. Also, do you know if it got contaminated it all after it's one night soak?

Turftime,

The bracket is designed to give you more room in the back, as well as better engine performance (higher WOT and better fuel consumption). Also, I like the idea of a closed transom.

It does require it's own special maintenance (such as it's own antifouling paint and you have to makes sure that it does not fill up with water). Also, under my current setup, the engines are too low. As a result, I am not getting a great ride all of the time (too much porpoising). Hopefully, I will be able to remedy that.

Two other things. First, strong trim tabs are a must with the bracket setup. With a twin setup that's a lot of weight back there. Second, it you have a trailer you will probably have to get it adjusted to support the new weight distribution.

James,

Good luck in Alaska. Fishing for halibat, salmon & ling cod?

I thought that the gas would be fine. I saw no leaking on the water. I keep saying it but you're going to love that boat when you are done.

Are you going to close the transom?

With the bracket have you figured out how you are going to use a 25" shaft yet?
