My Savage's First Vacation
Here are some pics from the trip we just got back from down in Islamorada ? in the Fl keys. We ended up with over 40 lobster, 2 nice doplhin, 3 tuna 1 huge king, more cuda's and yellowtail then I like to remember and a nice Aj. Of course my baby caught all of the nice fish. The Savage performed Awesome though likes the fuel a bit. and tore up the seas! The lobster were nice and cozy in our livewell in the transom, and the new leaning post dive center worked awesome! Of course the king I regret to inform was caught on my friend's 22 pursuit. Oh well I hope everyone has as much fun on their next outing as we did!!!

Ah... it's so nice to see pictures of another Savage! Do you have any more pictures of the boat? I'm trying to decide what kind of top to put on mine and like the look of yours. Of course mine being an inboard with the console flipping up makes the T-Top a design challenge.

Re: My Savage's First Vacation
Ryan-I saw a Savage inboard down here in Bradenton this AM. I was thinking of your boat, but it's not. That's a great set-up.

Quote:
First is the later model Correct Craft - Fish Nautique option where the T-top is mounted to the console, and tilts forward by use of two powered hydraulic cylinders. Second is the way Dusky made the t-tops on their 26' inboard CC. The T-top is mounted to the deck around the console, and the relatively small console/engine cover tilts backwards (manually) to rest against the leaning post. Intrepid boats made a prototype 26' center-console cuddy diesel inboard in the mid-80's, where the console was mounted to the T-top, and the two front legs of the top were mounted to hinges. I think that one was hydraulic, too. I remember operating the forklift to pull the 300 hp 6 cyl. Cummins engine out of that Intrepid for replacement. It was very difficult as the top only leaned forward until it rested against the cuddy-cabin roof, at about a 120 degree angle. If they had tilted the thing backwards, it would have gone to a full 90.

Re: My Savage's First Vacation
Father Frank-I am have researched a custom "break-away T-Top"option. The folding types are more complicated, costly, and can be a weaker system. My 23SF has it's top in the console because of it being an inboard originally. The break away when built, will allow me to put the top under a low bridge, pop the console easier and even tow with less wind issues.
