hope this is appropriate, but with all the knowledge on this forum thought I could get some honest answers.
bought a 25 foot Whaler from a guy the other day for $500.00. It has sat in his backyard for over 2 years and he lost interest, He is also leaving the country and wanted to unload it. Can't say I am not a little nervous, but will fell better after meeting with the wildlife division tomorrow. It needs alot of hull work and might not be salvagealble(sp). It will be shelved for a few months until I get my Seacraft finished. It was a sheriff's boat and they must have really been "running hot" when they hit something. I figured if nothing else If I can repair it I could sell it and make a little $$$. Hope posting these pics doesn't "cross the Line" let me know what you think. ![]() here is what he called "delamination" ![]() ![]() ![]() and the inside ![]()

I think that the 500 bucks is going to give you more headaches than you think. The problems with boston whalers are the hulls depend on the foam for the structural integrity of the hull. When you have huge hole in the boat like that the foam is water logged. Which in turn has to be all torn out. I think the easiest way to fix that big gauge would be to split the linner and flip the hull over. Unless you heart is set on spending the time on it. I would dump it on ebay.

thanks for the input, not really sure what I am going to do right now with it. I am going to get my first project complete before anything else. Your's is coming along great, keep the pic's coming because I need them. I think all you pro's need to get together and publish your works. It is no fun running from the carport inside to the computer to reference what this one did or the other did. It would be alot easier if us amateurs just had a book to flip through.
When is splash date for you?

Being a Whaler nut...that hull is quite fixable but you will want a cheaper "backyard" type guy because any yard will cost a fortune. For $500 I would have bought it...would have bought 10 of them because the console alone is worth over a grand, not to mention the teak gunwales, etc. Somebody will give you minor $$(probably your $500 or more) for the hull and trailer on e-bay once you gut the parts(hatches, etc) to sell seperately.

Nick,
Hey, seabob here. I think you are correct about the value of the parts. Actually took time to read Tom Clarks' CSW tale today. Skipjake, take Bigshot's advice, this is a Whaler expert. Part it out, and get a lot more than you paid for it, even the trailer. Then find the classic Seacraft you want and restore that. Nick, so how is Bradenton these days? More crowded every day? Been out to Anna Maria lately? |

thanks Seabob, I am in the process of doing just that. '72 20 ft .
I guess I misunderstood Nick's comments, it seemed to me he thought it was worth fixing.
