Really gorgeous stuff, a little "friendlier" to apply than Awlgrip, but I'm just an amateur.

Awlgrip
I should correct what I posted as I am an awlcraft2000 guy.. I never sprayed awlgrip...I do see the alexsral is a little more expensive. I want to use there two step base coat clear coat..looks awesome on large vessels with curves ,not sure how it will look on a 23.. but will give her a shot

Interested as well
Was going with alcraft then talked into awlgrip. Aside from price what are the benefits? Have had little experience with marine paint.
What I do know is the imron on the current sled is like hard as hell. Cant even touch it w/#60 on a da. |

I was led to believe that awlgrip could not be touched up, like repair a scratch. However while at Hugh Saint's shop the head painter explained it is possible.
The exterior of the hull will be painted by a pro. Interior probably all gel. Taking Ken's advice make it a fishing boat not a trailer queen. |

Alexseal is similar. Awlgrip, because its a bit harder than Awlcraft is more difficult to repair. Awlcraft is also a bit easier to apply, needing less coats than Awlgrip. But not quite (barely) as durable. Really, I've found them to be almost identical in durability. The yard I worked for in Seattle only sprayed Alexseal. Our painter was a strict awlgrip guy for years, but when he used Alexseal it was all over. Alexseal from then on. I remember he particularly liked alexseals primers. I've sprayed awlgrip and awlcraft but never had a chance to spray alexseal. A little tricky to get here in the North East. I think Jamestown sells it...

Awlcraft
Thanks guys for the input..I have done repairs on awlcraft paints and they were very easy. Most of them were my fault as they would be runs on the finish...but I wet sand them with a block .to 800 and then buffed and you could not tell where it was.. I use the 1' rule and alot of blind man touching and rubbing...lol..btw Erebus, what yard was that you worked at in Seattle...?

Seaview Boatyard!
Actually, I was the operations manager and lead mechanic at the North yard in Bellingham, but I spent a fair amount of time going back and forth to the Seattle yards. Nobody knows where Bellingham is, but everybody knows where Seattle is, so I usually just say I worked there.
