![]() Hey all. Been awhile, but I figured I would add a little advice to new and old alike. Re-seat all your bolts, screws and thru hulls - very year - or risk the consequences. After doing a resto on a 1975 23' Tsunami last year, I found many a soft spot - and repaired them. I just found one that I missed, and am attacking it like the fiberglass dust, loving, mo-fo I am... The area: the deck on the bow, where the ss rails got screwed down into the deck and into balsa wood - yippeee-kai- yay ! The repair is going well. Cut out the bad, scarfedin another pc of balsa, Epoxied it in, then I will glass it again. No replacement balsa near the railing/bolt area - just a bunch of layers of glass to drill through. But, my point is, if water can, it will find wood - and rot the crap out of it. So, even if all the fittings are sound-looking, pull that screw, bolt, fitting and reseat it with Boat Life ( or your favorite thing ) to avoid the itchy arms, face and neck I'm feeling right now !!! And, your boat can and will last a very long time ! Amen! |
