Default motor, cavatition plates and not being correct

hi all i have been reading and reasearching about this problem my boat has. i have been using it for a few months now. All seems good about the boat, well i read a post a few weeks back where somebody had posted that the cavatition plate is to sit level with the bottom of the boat when fully trimed down. well this sparked my thoughts. well when my motor is full trimmed down, the cavatition plate sit 2-3 inches higher then the bottom of the keel.this being said my boat has a "bracket" on the back of it.( 2 peices of 3/4 plywood resioned to gether) plus a manual jacker plate. the plate and motor is as low as it can go. is this truly hurting my engine performance or is this some thing that should be resolved quickly? thoghts comments
