Teak

i really got to the point where i like neither cetol nor oiling teak. i never really cared for the cetol look and although i like the way the oiled teak looks it sucks up dirt way to fast and is a real pain in the ass to maintain. I have gone the way a lot of the mid-atlantic custom boats do their teak. I aquired this method from a friend on another board and its my favorite. I do this procedure maybe 3 times a year.
1) wet the teak
2) using 50/50 mix of ammonia and water lightly brush the teak across the grain with the mixture.
3) let sit for approx 5 minutes.
4) rinse it off well.
5) now brush in some starbright teak brightener with the grain and let it sit for 5 minutes or so. (keep wood wet).
6) rinse it off and you are done.
