depending on where you want to put it - the bags of lead shot that the skeet/trap shooters/re-loaders use are very versatile and are friendly to hull materials - and dont bang around. 30 pound bags are the standard. I have used these bags to fine tune a few boats now.
I too am having trouble dialing in my 1978 23 SC center console. I have an Armstrong bracket and twin 150's. It is a little tippy and also having some prop issues with slippage etc. I keep working on it but cant seem to get it right.
I am going to start a diff thread of my own here and on THT and see if I can get some ideas.
