Up in New England.....a complete professional transom job (from the inside) starts at around $4,000 plus the cost of the bracket. It might be a bit less down near you.

PS - According to the man who designed the Hermco Bracket (Bill Potter)....in most cases you do not need to replace the transom when installing a HERMCO bracket. I dont know the specific details as to why (maybe because it bolts over the existing transom and gunnel??), but that is what he said when Jason, Mark and I were chatting with him in Florida. I am sure if you gave Don Herman at HERMCO a call, he could explain in great detail. Of course, for your own peace of mind, it cant hurt to replace it anyway.
