Default 20' CC rod locker installation???

Hello Boys,

On my 20' 1973 CC, I'd like to cut out the sides of the cockpit from the front of the CC back to the aft seats. I've searched the archives and can't come up with the answer to whether or not this will compromise the strength of the hull at all. I'd like to cut the area out and build a glass "box" for hanging rods in that space. I can use the existing up front but usually carry 8-10 rods and would like to get them stowed for long runs in rough weather. Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks

Scot
