John,

One thing you will have to be careful with when using a housing for a consumer digital and using the built-in flash on the camera is what is referred to as "back scatter". Because the flash is in line with the lens, you will potentially have images that look as though it is snowing (all of the particles in the water lit up by your flash).

Unless you have a flash on a bracket like pictured above, you can pretty much be guaranteed of this effect.
