Default New guy needs advise

I am new to the boat world and therefore new to Sea Craft. I have spent the last six month shopping around for my first boat and have fallen in love with the older Sea Craft Hulls. I need info to make a smart purchase on a 20-21ft CC. Questions like...What is the Potter Hull? How do I assess the strength/condition of the hull by a visual inspection? How do I assess if the Transom is intact? If there is a soft spot in the floor, does it matter where it is? Does is signify a localized problem or signal rot thoughout the hull? Again, I am new to boats and this rookie needs help! Thanks in advance for your response.
