Why not just use a fish pen ? They are cheap to make and or buy, and nothing keeps the bait more fresh/happy... I use it all season and it's maintenance-free, lasts years and years - and no electrical PITA.

Yeh - but tough to keep long term in the driveway. Some baits, like our herring, there is not enough water flow at the marinas to keep the baits alive. And that's if you have a slip. If you trailer - Fuhgeddaboudit. I run a Keep Alive in the back of my truck and will switch the cables over to a battery charger for the evening.

To keep herring alive I also need to mintor the water temp, level the salinity between where I got them and where I'm going, and throw in ammonia chips to knock down the amonia - and I can still have half die off over night.
