Default Re: 225 Johnson on a 20' SeaCraft

Have a 1976 MA 20 originally with a 175 merc....i recently repowered with a 150 ficht, dropped down in HP because the 150 weighs more. I havent lost any top end maybe 1 knot, not sure, have to run it some more. I know my boat is rated for 175, but that was in 1976...as it is the stern squats but no more then when the merc was on it. I dont know what your's is rated to, but after seeing a few whalers snap their transoms because they overpowered, i've become wary of over doing it.BTW, i get about 40-42 knots but rarely run it that hard, since where im at, sea conditions rarely get that calm.
