Seacraft rip off?
I bid on a Seacraft on ebay which almost screams scam though I could be wrong. Item # was 7131496773. Seller claimed it was a 76 Seacraft, but when you look at the picture of the console, the little bit of gunnel you can see on the side does not look like any Seacraft built in the 70's except Mark's since he rebuilt the gunnels. Seller's response to my question about it was that it looked different because the rub rail was removed (yeah right). Pic shows brand new aluminum trailer. I asked if trailer was included. He said a galvanized trailer was included. Bidding ended with the final bidder backing out. Mailing the final bidder got no reply. A couple days later I got an offer to buy it at my bid price which was only $2000. That boat is worth $12k easy with a new paint job, 98' 150 Johnny, and sweet T-top. It was getting fishier by the second. I emailed the seller saying that I was interested (at that price I would buy it even if its not a Potter). I asked for Hull ID, title info, and address to see the boat. Initially no reply. I asked again and seller replied like 3 times with 3 different addresses first saying that he would only do the transaction through ebay. After replying that I would be happy to do the transaction through Ebay and requesting the info again he sent an email saying that I had not met the reserve price (which is ridiculous since the auction was already ended). All I can say is beware and never buy anything big on Ebay sight unseen. If I am wrong and someone knows about this boat, please let me know.
