Default Question on Sequence

I have been getting pricing on new power and have pretty much settled on a Crusader 6.0 MPI and new transmission.

With the repower I want to recondition the stringers as required, bilge, rudder table, and bulkheads, reinstall the tanks, replace packing with dripless, and new exhaust and steering. Basically everthing accessible through the console and aft deck plate while the engine is out. Also, while repower being done, redo the console (complete rewire, new guages, etc.).

There is no way I can do any more than this (cost wise) at one time so my question is am I doing it a$$ backwards. Is there a problem with doing the repower and address the hull, cap, and deck at a future time? They are in decent shape and look fine but I want to restore the entire boat eventually. I just can't do it all in one year and I'd like to use the boat in the meantime.
