New Sea Craft

I know this is a classic Sea Craft site and I don't want to get blasted for posting this, but I just picked up my new 2005 Sea Craft and I wanted to list my initial impressions.


All electical connections had heat shrink terminals.

The pumps had quality hoses and hose clamps.
The hose connections to the pumps were filled with silicone.

The console was laid up super heavy duty. The mounting screws for my C-80 weren't long enough to go through.

The trim tabs were Bennett tabs!

The T-top was mounted to the console & deck with aluminum backing plates.

All hinges on the boat are Gemlux stainless and the wheel is an Edson.


I would like to see the console redesigned some how. The only access is through 2 hatches one on each side at the bottom. I'm a small guy and I am having difficulty getting to the back side of the electronics.

The wiring is kind of bundled up. I am use to seeing the wiring in the new yachts that my dad does where all the wires are run in a line and it's easy to determine what the wires are for.

The access to the fuel filter is through a round plate. Once again, the wires are bundled in fron of the filter and it seems like it might be difficult to change.

The in deck live well is huge, but when I was hosing off the deck last night, a lot of the water from the hose went into the live well...the hatch isn't sealed. So when I scrub down the deck, chances are the live well will fill up with soapy water. Soap in a live well isn't too good.

Last, when the hawse pipe was installed, 2 of the screws went in at an angle and tore up the edge of the inner liner under the gunnel. You can't see it unless you lay down and look up.

All in all, I am very happy on what I have seen initially.
I had 2 people that I respect a lot when it comes to boat building check it out when I got home yesterday and they both were impressed/surprised with the way the boat came out. I plan on taking it out tomorrow and breaking it in.
We'll see how it holds up after a year of hard use down here in Key West.
