Default Cost to fill the new 23...

I'm not whining, but...

I started a renovation on our 23CC 2-1/2 years ago. For various reasons, it has been put on the back burner twice. When I bought her in 2001, I put gas in for a sea trial at roughly $2.00 per gallon. She now has a new 133 gallon tank - @ $3.90/gallon is over $500 to fill her up. Ironically, that's more than my mortgage principle and interest monthly.

The good news is that this time last year, we sold our Carver aft cabin motor yacht, which held over 200 gallons and got 1 MPG on a GOOD day.

My kids were pissed when I told them we would only go to the mall once every 2 weeks because it cost $10 in fuel round trip. I feel bad for the young kids coming up as they may never be able to cruise the beautiful highways and waterways of America on a modest budget.

Thanks for letting me vent. On top of the overwhelming sadness surrounding Katrina and the plight of the Gulf Coast, this is one slap of reality that's hard to swallow.
