Bob's Manual jackplate on 1970 20' w/ 200 HPDI

Originally I had a bracket w/ closed transom and a Johnson 150. After my motor caught on fire at the beach a searched for a new engine and found a deal on a Yami 200 HPDI. Problem was it's a 25 in shaft and thinking that's what I needed I bought it. After it's maiden voyage I realized it was way to low, so I got a Bob's jackplate-manual and raised the motor it fixed the problem except now I get a little bow hop. The jackplate can be mounted two way's one with a 5 1/2" set back w/ 6 or -6 degree wedge and the second way is with a 2 1/2" setback and no wedge. Thinking I want to keep the motor as close to the transom as possible I mounted it with the 2 1/2" setback, but I have bow hop. Now the question, Will it make that much more of a difference if I flip it around and mount it w/ 5 1/2" set back so that I can get a wedge to be able to trim the motor down more? Will this even help with the bow hop? Any comments towards this matter would be greatly appreciated!
