New Owner

Hello all,

Just took my maiden voyage in my '73 20 footer (previously known here as 'Abe's Rocket). I have never been so impressed with the ride of a boat in my life. Couple of questions: What in the name of Pete is the deal with the plugs? I thought the previous owner just had a fetish or something when I first bought it. I found out quickly that every single one of them had a home once the boat was in the water.
Secondly, how does the cockpit "self drain?" I found that if I didn't have plugs in the scuppers aft of the lean post, that I was taking on water like the Titanic. What happens if you take a wave? How is she meant to drain?
