Narrowing transom notch on a 23

Now that I have a 23 CC project...to go with my 20, I was wondering if anyone had narrowed the motor notch on a 23 to accept only a large single motor (Suzuki 250 is my plan)? Basically reducing the opportunity for water to come over the transom area. My plan would be to raise the transom to 30 inch and narrow the notch (ultimately would look very simialr to a 20).
