Re: 1970 Seafari I/O for sale
Thanks buddy, it sure is a bummer. That was my stress relief and I've noticed my short temper lately since I don't have it anymore.
I'm very happy with the outriggers although I had to exchange them once because the spring pins that hold them in place when extended did not extend out enough and the riggers would sometimes collapse when running hard. Make sure the pin extends at least 1/4" out of the hole. Although the bases worked OK I was unhappy with the fishing angle when swept to the sides. Since the bases were installed on the side of the decks, I didn't realize they angle inwards and when fishing they don't drop downwards enough. If I were to do it again I would spend the extra bucks to install the TACO Sports Slam outrigger bases, the wide variety of angles and positions available would be perfect for this boat. I measured them and the bases would fit perfectly on the decks next to the helm which would make them super easy to lower and raise, especially going under bridges. If the engine hadn't seized that was going to be my next purchase. I saw the whole TACO package, bases, riggers and rigging in the internet, I think eBay, for about $700 which is a great price.
