Default My shaft length... No not that one, silly.

I have a 23CC with a notched transom and the measured length from the top ledge to the keel is 27 1/2 inches. I currently have twins with 25" shafts and of course they are adjusted so that the cavitation plate is about even with the hull.

I've been looking to repower and find that 30" shafts are in short (no pun intended) supply, so the question is:

How much adjustment is available on most outboards by just moving the motor up or down on the transom clamp? Is 2 1/2 inches too much to adjust if I go with a 25?
