Absolutely stick with the stern-lifter. I suggest the 15.5"D x 17"P Mirage Plus or the 15.25"D x 17"P SWS Yammie, or the 4-blade 15.25X17 PowerTech UN200. All have heavy blades, and near-circumferential cupping, which is good to have in rough water, or when nearly surfacing the prop. The Mirage is about $500, the Yamaha is about $25 less, and the PowerTech is about $675.
Michigan makes a SS 4 blade stern-lifter in a 14.375"D X 18"P that lists for about $300 I don't know how well it compares to the others, though.
