outboard price

i recently purchased a 1976 MA potter hull. i just replaced transom and decided to buy a newer efi motor. considering the tank is on 50 gallons im going to need somethign with a little less gas consumption. my question pertaisn to the motor which came wit the boat. it is an early 90's 200 hp evinrude which could use some paint but was running great when removed. suposably it has less than 20 hrs on rebuild. im just curious what an appropriate askign price woudl be? from what i hear i shouldnt expect more than $1000.00 but the previous owner invested almost 3k on the rebuild. what would be an apporopriate price? thanks in advance.
