Default transom rebuild gap

i recently set my transom in place. for some reason, im guessing i didnt bolt it well enough, on the port side of the transom theres about a 1/2" gap from the top of the transom to the bottom. its about 8" wide. the rest of the transom looks good and sounds solid. should i remove the entire transom and reset it in place? i tried to pour some excess thickened resin down it but it just flowed out of the bottom. although it was a hell of a task to get in, i would much rather do it the rite way the first time around. any suggestions?
