Default Mooseafari

Dragged the boat up to Moosehead Lake in Maine. Very nice, very uncrowded. Never seen so many boats on the road to and from there, and so few in the lake itself. A little more rain than we like but some sun was had.

Long haul from RI, longer when the trailer bearings let go. Fortunately discovered in Portland and snagged the last hub set off the shelf at Hamilton Marine, and rebuilt the hub in the parking lot.

We did the rental on the lake with the dock thing. We are not big lake people but I can tell you it is very relaxing to be on the lake and be able to walk 75 ft from the house and drive off a dock. Or just not go anywhere. Anyhow here are a few shots.

You can pull up to an island and hook up to a rock for a little island exploring.

no one else in sight

Mt Kineo, about a 15 mile run up the lake.

The "Katahdin", built in 1914 originally to haul guests to the Mt Kineo Lodge, then a lumber hauler, now a tourist day tripper

night shot of the lake house. The Loons make a pretty cool sound and really make it seem like you're at a northern lake.

view south from Mt Kineo. The Lake is about 40 miles long and 12 wide at its widest.
