Coast Guard boarding & hull number question?

We were boarded by the Coast Guard this pass weekend in the Gulf, I am pleased to say we passed the inspection with out any major issues !!!

But one thing they questioned was my hull number on my registration, they said it appeared to be missing one number. They tried to verify the number by looking at the back of the boat but didn't see it there... they didn't didn't seem to be overly concerned about it and moved on with their inspection.

Where is the number located on 1974 23' CC
