Default Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas

There are several hotels/motels on Singer Island, but the larger ones on the beach are a pretty good hike from the only marina that I know of, the Sailfish Marina. Might be some smaller mom & pop places in Palm Beach Shores within a couple blocks of Sailfish. I'll look into that. Dockage is also available at the Riviera Beach Marina, but don't know of any motels close by on the mainland, and I would not recommend walking around in Riviera Beach after dark anyway! BTW, a water taxi makes trips to Peanut Island from both the Sailfish and Riviera Beach Marina's during the day, so folks would NOT need a boat to come to this gathering, even if you were camping! There is never any shortage of boats at these gatherings, so if you need a ride, that's not a problem!

I checked on the motel next to the North Palm Beach Marina today. It's the Camelot Motor Lodge, 1000 U.S. Hwy 1, just south of the Parker Bridge over the ICW, and 100 yds or so up the hill from marina. My buddy Harry has stayed there before; it's not fancy, maybe about 20 rooms, but it's clean, has a swimming pool and is in a nice area. There is a new restaurant on the premises, plus the NPB Country Club is right across the street, with a dining room open to the public.

Asked the manager Michael about rates for June and he quoted me a rate of $59/night. Phone is 561-626-7200. You might be able to negotiate a better rate for specific dates/number of days, etc. They don't have a web site, but I could get some photos of the place if anyone is interested. Also checked with the marina to see if they had any open/transient slips available, as it's typically full this time of year. The dockmaster said they have transient slips available, at $1.75/ft/day.
