I redid a 78' MA and made it a flat deck bow to stern. Love it. I also ended up raising the floor 5". Plus the box in the 20 foot class serve no point for me. The fish i catch are much bigger. haha. If I remeber correctly I have 20" freeboard at stern now and around 28"-30" in the bow. Where the MA had factory 25" freeboard at transom.
Next 23' i redo of my own will have a flat deck in it. By the time I would raise the floor you should have enough room to glass some sort of fish box between the stringers and in front of the gas tank. Most likely would do some sort of coffin. And I always throw a cast net off the bow cap, which is easier for me than trying to swing it over the gunnel.
