I had this issue years ago with my 99 Johnson 175. Engine cranking strong by ear. No fire. Called mechanic, and he told me the engine needed to spin 800 rpms to fire. Replaced a fairly new battery and BAM! Fired first shot. He was right and I was on the water within an hour, though I was most doubtful. Back when an Interstate Group 24 was 50 Bucks... Live and learn.
