How Did This Happen and How Can I Fix It?

I have been working on my Sceptre restoration project for several years now. I am about done and will start using the boat soon. Yesterday I put the cover that goes over the cabin entrance hatch and it doesn't fit. It's as if the hatch cover shrank (unlikely) or this part of the boat has moved slightly and not allowing the hatch cover to go in place.



Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

I know it is unlikely, can I purchase an after-market hatch to replace the one I have? I would really like to replace this hatch cover and the ladder that is built for the cabin but I understand it is not available either.
