Default Rebuild of a Garmin 2.1L AutoPilot pump

I have had issues with my 2.1L Garmin Autopilot pump since I installed the system 5 or so years ago. I have gone thru 3 pumps in those 5 years. Out of warranty they cost $900 to replace and according to Garmin are not serviceable (sounds like a challenge)

My pump failed again a few months back and no way was I spending another $900 for the same result. I wound up finding a used one on THT and purchased it with the intent of rebuilding (learning how it ticks) and then swapping it with the busted one on my boat. Then rebuild that one and have a spare.

Used Marine electronics that have major components made of steel.....what could go wrong???

I documented the process so I could re assemble everything and wound up making the following video should anyone need a reference on what's inside these things.

Since the rebuild I swapped it with the one on my boat and all is well, turns out the most recent failure was due to the Magnets in the motor getting dislodged and jamming the armature, so now I have a working pump and a spare, winning!

here is the video if you are really bored and like watching people take stuff apart and put them back together again
