It comes down to what you want to do. Im sure this will be the same as the 4 stroke / 2 stroke debate. I normally recommend stay with the set up the boat is. I have seen some boats run much better changing it over to a bracket and I have seen some need much work to make it right. If it was mine and it was a io then I would bracket it. If it was a customers I would say go back with the io. I like outboards much better. When it comes to customers boats they dont realize how much work a bracket needs. Once the job is done and the boat gets splashed you may have to spend another two or three days of relocating and rerigging for the final setup to work right.
