Default Re: How much motor enough on a 20 sceptre

The rod bearings were all on the 60 degree 4 and 6 cylinder engines. THey claim is was a outsourse problem. The gearcase's fail left and right on the 90 degree V-6's. 99% of the gearcase failures occure on 23ft and larger boats with a single engine turning a stainless steel wheel. When bombardier stepped in they scrapped over 1000 gearcase's that were assembled and ready to be installed onto new engines. When you take one of these apart you can not believe how out of round these parts are. If you are running one of these gearcases and it goes even if its a older one that had good parts in it be sure to have your dealer install the maginum gearcase. Bombardier took the cases and made the larger and the gears are much much larger. These cases come standard on all 25 inch 115, 150, 175, 200, 225 and 250. These cases will fit on the older product and you will never have a gear problem.
