I just purchased a 1977 sceptre. My plans for the boat include a full transom, bracket, new deck and pulpit. I am leaning toward powering with a 250 hpdi. I would apreciate any advice given to aid me in my project. This is my first Seacraft, what are the standards, norms for this type of rebuild

I'd go with a fourstroke. Suzuki & Merc both have 250 4S engines. MUCH Quieter, more efficient, for 8-10% more $$
If you go with a single, take a kicker, too. Or get SeaTow ![]()

Ron,
Where do you live in Charleston? I live in Charleston and am restoring/having restored a 1975 23' CC. I had a new deck and custom livewell added and she is getting painted right now. The boat had been bracketed with a new transom in 1998 and re-powered with twins. It is a long process but worth it. I am hoping to splash her in January to get all the bugs out before the season. Good luck with her! CMB |

Ron, sounds like your on the right track. Mine ran great with a 225hp so 250 on a bracket sould work well too. Keep posting on the project and E-mail any specific questions. There are quite a few Sceptre's out there.
Post in the repairs and mods section and you'll get more response. The performance section gets a little slow at times. Good Luck |
