Default Re: Going NUTS ! looking for a lock...

I am having a locksmith re-key the lock. Primarily because the lock is in the locked position and that is a PITA.

I now know how the lock works: First you shut the louvered door, hooking the latch on the port side of the door to the door frame.

Then, you close the (2) pc hatch. Then you turn the lock and the plunger from the lock will push into the small hole in the hatch. This will not allow you to life the hatch ( for only honest people ). And the door cannot be opened because you hooked that latch to the door frame.

You cannto push forward because the hatch has a flat pc that leans against the louvered door to fully not allow that.

Once the lock is unlocked, you then can open the hatch and reach from the top and unlatch the door.

Anyone who really wants to get in - will. Actually, like my convertible car - I'll leave it unlocked to avoid someone having to break something to get in !! Especially my newly renovated, precious louvered door !
