Thought I'd post some pics of cutting out the splash well and bait tank. I'm still not finished as there is some more grinding to do but I'm a little farther along then the pics show.

One thing I can say is that if you have an older 23 and you have never looked under the live bait tank make sure you do so because I found enough hardware under there to stock the Home Depot Tool shack including a screw driver that must have been 20 years old and many nuts and bolts washers etc. The wood coring for the bait tank was rotton as well.

I pulled one of my large deck plates on my 1989 23WA to gain access to the drain on the front fish box, I found the same kind of junk, but no screw drivers.I think they use the hulls for a garbage can while building the boats. [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

There is nothing like the removal process at first you are not sure of what to do and kind of go slowly but as time goes on your attitude changes to “when in doubt cut it out”. I pealed off the remainder of my live well and moved it forward about 2 ‘ as well as the moving the gas tank forward as well. Oh buy the way under those two hoses on picture 637 is a laminated piece of plywood that the batteries rested on that wood is probably rotten as well I removed mine down to the glass under it. Good luck and go for it.

Well, if we are telling horror stories, my port side stringer had a 32 year old beer cap in it. Not sure what brand due to rust, but whatever was popular in Florida in 1971 [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

I pulled three 4” nailes out of my boat some one had hammered them into the deck under the center console to hold something down. I am sure glad they didn’t install the bilge pumps that way.

Looks like fun! Been there done that and still rebuilding from my destruction.. Now for the hard part.. How the hell do I put this thing back together?
