I had the two cleat version at one point on my 18' and replaced them with a single 6" pull-up in the middle: vast improvement.

Like Capt Chuck suggested, the flare would likely prevent using two pop-up or pull-up cleats that close to the edge. In addition, it is far less cluttered with just one centrally located.

On my 20' I will be going with the same layout as the new 20's, which means launching that original 3" high bow railing into the nearest recepticle.
