George,
I once did it on a V-20 wellcraft. Seemed to work all-right for me. Made it easy to replace my bad stringers too and kept the origional gel on the floor in good shape but not perfect. I think on the SeaCraft 20's most people are also raising the floor a bit, so thats why they don't take the entire deck off.
