I had the same prices for a transom job, 4-6k, plus the bracket. It's not a horrible job to do your self if your handy and not in a rush.

Even with the ant farm the transom was tight, I just didn't feel like redoing the whole boat and leaving something out. But if you look at Hermans bracket it make sence, it bolts across the entire tansom basically pulling the whole thing in tight, plus it's got a "V" that adds boyancy. Very simple really.

I should have my Seamark bracket in a few days, I'll let you guys know what I think when it comes. I can't see it going on the boat before fall, unfortunatly.
