Default Re: outboard bolt patterns?

Of all the things in the industry, that is one that everyone decided to make the same. All of the outboards have the same bolt spacing pattern in that respect. Not saying a little 9.9 is the same as a 200 but the bigger ones are all the same, be it Yamaha, Mercury, Johnson, Evinrude, Suzuki, etc. Otherwise, boat manufacturers would have to make transoms that looked like swiss cheese!!!!
