Finster-
I would cut that used car guy out of the picture and just go to Florida yourself. It's not too bad...I have bought two boats out of state and hauled them home to Boston. The first one I sold at a huge profit...and the 2nd which I still own is worth a lot more around here. If I were you, I would find a boat you like in Florida, hire a surveyor to check it out, and then when you get his report, talk to the owner and verbally settle on a price. Then book a 17ft UHAUL rental (about $400), fly down, water test the boat, then buy it and haul her home. Depending on where you live, you can be home in 2-3 days, with a boat that is worth more than you paid for it. |

Finster: I checked BoatTraderOnline (Sp?) today and a number of Potter builts for sale worth checking, mostly Florida, some already restored and some ready for work, but the prices can be significantly less down south...

I plan to get down to FL one of these days and beat the bushes. I figure you can probibly find some great deals before they make it to boattrader.
