JohnR, believe it. Someone got a tarpon here in jersey last year (in the bay no less), I didn't believe it either until I saw a picture of it. And there is plenty of dolphin here too when the offshore waters are warm. I had a big bull spool me this year on light tackle while fishing for albies.

The grouper are really chewin over on the east coast this week. This one came off my boat out of Port Canaveral on Monday, didn't weigh it, but it was over 30#. If you guys ever want to trade a tuna trip in the NE for a Grouper/Snapper trip down here, let me know.

Fellowship,
We go out of Ft Pierce inlet and usually fish the the 80' bar about 8 miles off the beach - out of Sebastian inlet (about 20 miles north) this same dropoff is about 15 miles out. The 80' - 90' line has been hot all summer but mostly schoolies up until about a month ago, Seems like the schoolies have grown up - the big guys are hitting hard now along with the sails. From all accounts looks like an epic sailfish season is starting to heat up! John B, That grouper is definitely over 30 lbs - nice catch! |
