Hey Hoop,
Thanks for the info. I am still waiting for my "Smartcraft" to get fixed, so I don't know my RPM's yet. I do know when I pin it, I get about 36.5 knots on the GPS,full fuel (100 gallons) - I thought that was a bit slow, but now I feel a little better. I have a 17" pitch, going to try a 19" once I figure out the RPM's. Is that a 225 rude, or 200? Definitely getting ready for the Chatham season - I started working on the JC yesterday - putting in stern controls, autopilot, new fish finder, windows - big list. Still trying the get the 23' ready too - just need to finish the gin pole and the rod holder in the bow. I was watching videos last night from last season - got me all geared up! The only fish I have heard about have been on Jeffrey's - all harpoon fish.

Eric-
That's a 225 'rude. I had a charter today and blew to the Vineyard at 30 knots with ease. It really has been a great engine so far! |

Eric - a 23 SC and a JC? Nice taste in boats
Brad - interesting thought as to how your baits will work but bass like slow trolling 1.3-3 knts - usually the slower and we fish structure so a casuall 8kts troll in 300 ft of water is a little different ... Here is a pic showing some of the wooden lures made by guys from my bass site. Most of these are intended to be fished from shore but can also easlit be trolled shallow or deep (for us 35 feet is deep). ![]() How deep can you get your stuff with wire or lead core line? I think they could kick some ass in some places if they can get deep enough and be actively jigged... [ June 19, 2003, 09:39 PM: Message edited by: John R ]

Thanks Hoop - I will let you know my numbers when I get everything hooked up. We are running a similar rig - so I am hoping to have similar results/speeds.
My buddy went harpooning yesterday - ran on 3 pods, all big fish. Saw another 3-4 pods. Starting to look good up here. John - thanks! I love that JC. It is a 31 and plows through the rough stuff with ease (for its size). I put a 3208TA in a couple years ago which gave it even more stability and pushes the boat at about 18knts cruise.
