I have an '83 SC center console with a notched transom. I repowered with a 2003 Evinrude 225 and it has been great for me. I would also agree with these guys who say twins on a notched are too much. I would definately shy away from that idea unless you opt for the Hermco flotaion bracket which looks to be a great set up.

At 4100- 4200 rpmsI get 24-25kts which keeps me happy and is really good on fuel. If you haven't looked at the 'rudes, maybe give them a look. I got a seven year, non declining warranty on it to boot.
