Thinkin' of a New Prop for My 'Rude
Hi Guys-
I got a suggestion from someone recently who suggested I drop from the 14 3/4 x 19 three blade stainless to a 17. I was told that I would turn up more rpm's and attain a higher cruise. He runs the same 225 Ficht on his 23 SeaCraft and gets much better performance numbers than I do on mine... I run about 5400-5500 rpm and get a cruise of about 25-26kts at 4500prpm's. I would appreciate your thoughts... -Hooper |

Capt Chuck: what is the weight of your boat when fully loaded? Is there a "formula" that lets you calculate the size engine for a given boat weight? Thanks for info, aaf.

Ha Hooper
All the SeaCraft I have seen at the showroom with 225 on the back run 17”. I have talked to a some prop guys which also said run a 17” I also looked a performance charts of similar boats and that seemed to point to a 17” there has been some discussions on this site in the past and most guys also said run a 17” so when it was time to buy a prop I bought a new 17” for my 225 Yamaha. It gives me what I am looking for I don’t have lots of figures for you but I can bring it up to 5600 rpm’s and I cruse around 3400 to 4000 depending on sea conditions and desired speed. I would save the 19” for your spare prop. FellowShip |

Much thanks for the info. I wanted some feedback before I throw the cahs down on a new one. I am going to see if my dealer has a shop prop to experiment with first, if not, I'll just bite the bullett. Thanks a lot, Hooper |
